Do You Agree That The Smoking Age In Maine Should Have Been Moved To 21? [POLL]

Unless you turned 18-years old on July 1, you must now be 21-years old if you want to purchase a package of smokes - cigarettes - in the state of Maine.

Maine, along with California, Oregon, New Jersey, and Hawaii has raised the legal age for buying and using tobacco products from 18 to 21-years of age.

Last year, Gov. Paul LePage vetoed a bill that prohibits the sale of tobacco and tobacco products, like E-cigarettes for example, to people that are under the age of 21.

LePage stated that adults who are old enough to serve in our nation's military are old enough to decide whether or not they want to use tobacco products.

However, Maine lawmakers disagreed with the governor and shot his veto down. Now, an individual must be 21-years of age in order to purchase or use tobacco.
