Police say a 49-year-old man from Dieppe has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged forcible confinement involving a firearm.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday, members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a residence in Dieppe, after a report that a woman had been forcibly confined in the home. The woman was able to get away, according to Staff Sgt. Eric Larose. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and later released. RCMP say the man was arrested without incident.

John Boudreau appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on Tuesday and was charged with break and enter, forcible confinement with a firearm, assault, uttering threats and pointing a firearm.

Police say Boudreau was remanded into custody and is expected back in court on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. for a bail hearing.
