The struggling economy has affected some more than others.  Job losses, salary cuts and overall restructuring are a harsh reality of the times we find ourselves in.  As many in Aroostook County try to pick themselves and move on, some welcome news comes out of the Labor Department.

Maine-Military-Authority

In an effort to continue re-employment and training services for workers affected by recent layoffs, the U.S. Department of Labor awarded a National Emergency Grant in the amount of $305, 714 to the Maine Military Authority in Limestone, Maine.  This latest grant comes on the heels of a 2011 grant of $463, 083 and supplemental funding of $100, 485 back in 2012.

State Representative Mike Michaud praised the announcement saying, "These grants are critical to helping workers get back on their feet, and this additional funding is very welcome news,” said Michaud. “These workers have been through a lot, and I’m hopeful this supplement will open up new training opportunities that will help them find new employment as soon as possible.”
