We're not sure who had the better "elevator" story from Grammy weekend -- August Burns Red or Dave Grohl. As previously reported, August Burns Red got stuck in an elevator en route to the Grammys, had to be rescued by the fire department, then hitched a ride to the Grammys on the firetruck. But that story may be rivaled by Dave Grohl, who enjoyed a pre-Grammy jam packed inside an elevator with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

According to Consequence of Sound, Grohl got to join the group for a second line parade along the red carpet leading into the venue prior to the ceremony. And by the look of the video above, the music was going before the fanfare began. In addition to Grohl, Trombone Shorty joined in the fun as they all made their way through the red carpet right into the Staples Center crowd just ahead of the show's start.

As you may remember, Grohl was introduced to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Trombone Shorty during his trip to New Orleans to film for his Sonic Highways HBO series and recording for Foo Fighters' album of the same name. Filmed back in May of 2014, a mob of fans surrounded Preservation Hall just to get a look or listen as Foo Fighters played with the New Orleans legends.

Even though he didn't win a Grammy, Grohl had a pretty great Grammy weekend, turning up at the Lionel Richie MusiCares Person of the Year event, performing with his Nirvana bandmates and Beck covering David Bowie at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy bash and also delivering a very respectful and moving speech honoring the late Motorhead leader Lemmy Kilmister during the Grammy ceremony.
