What's more precious than a rock star with his mom? Especially when it’s Dave Grohl whining to his mother, Virginia Hanlon Grohl, about her new book, From Cradle to Stage: Stories From the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars.

The collection of stories was released April 25, and Virginia Grohl culled it from interviews with the mothers of musicians like Michael Stipe, Amy Winehouse, Zac Brown, Mike D, Geddy Lee and many more for the book, while also delving into her own experience raising the Foo Fighters frontman.

But in a recently released promo, Grohl, who is famously close with his mother (although she interestingly isn't on speed dial) calls her to take issue with an unflattering photo of himself that appears in the book. Complaining about the picture of himself, in which he dons a cowboy hat and what he terms “a pants full of mashed potatoes,” as well as her description of his report cards as "unscholarly" and “dismal,” he soon threatens, “Well, wait ’till I write my book, Mom!”

But doesn't scare easily, and shoots back at one point with “It’s not just about you, David," listing some of the other rock stars discussed in the book, including Adam Levine and Dr. Dre.

"I don't mind making fun of Adam Levine, but let's not make fun of Dr. Dre," he quips.
