The two-time champion Coffee New Comrades of Bangor open the 2016 American Legion State Tournament with a 3-2 comeback win over Coastal Landscape of Portland.

At McGuire Field in Augusta, Bangor pitcher Peter Kemble hit the first two batters he faced but settled in and pitched a complete game 94-pitch win. He allowed just four hits.

Trailing 2-0 in the 7th inning, the Comrades score twice to get the game tied.

Then in the 8th, Andrew Hillier drove in the game winner with a double down the rightfield line.

Bangor(19-5) plays next at 11:30am Thursday against Lewiston, a 9-5 winner over Wells.

The eight team, double elimination tourney continues through Sunday in Augusta.
