The UMaine Black Bears will open their season at Boston College for the third time in the last four years. For the second straight year Dan Collins will be the starting quarterback.

Collins, a junior, won a closely contested battle with sophomore Drew Belcher to start the opener. In last year's 40-10 loss at BC, Collins was 8-for-13, 113 yards and a TD. Belcher played late in the game and was 2-for-5 and 10 yards.

The Boston College game will be the first of back-to-back games against FBS teams. The Black Bears travel to Tulane on September 19th.

Other number and notes for UMaine vs BC...

- This is the 9th time the schools have met in football. Maine won the first one 6-0 back in 1913

- In last year's game with senior QB Troy Murphy running the offense, the Eagles outgained the Black Bears in total offense 549 to 139 yards

- Jack Cosgrove begins his 23rd season as UMaine head coach. Steve Addazio begins his 3rd at BC

- UM was picked to finish 7th in the CAA preseason poll. BC was picked to finish 5th of the seven teams in the Atlantic Division of the ACC.
