The Madawaska Owls traveled to take on the Van Buren Crusaders on Monday in Class D North baseball action. Van Buren came into the game with a record of 1-0 after defeating Central Aroostook last week. This was the first game of the season for Coach Taggett's Owls who are coming off a semifinal appearance in last year's playoffs.

Houlton was scheduled to open up the season a week earlier against Calais, but the weather had other plans and the Shires had to wait a little bit longer to get their first regular season action. On Saturday the Shires traveled to take on the Washington Academy Raiders who came in with a 3-0 record

There are two new head coaches at Presque isle high school

The Hodgdon Hawks were back in action for the second straight day on Tuesday hosting the Katahdin Cougars. Hodgdon came in with a 1-0 record, having beaten Southern Aroostook on Tuesday in their season opener.

The weather is already wreaking havoc on the baseball and softball seasons in Aroostook County as teams moved games scheduled for Wednesday, to be played on Tuesday. One of the games that moved ahead by a day was the Presque Isle Wildcats at Fort Kent Warriors matchup

The Hodgdon Hawks hosted the Southern Aroostook Warriors on Monday as both teams opened their 2022 regular season schedule. Both teams are expected to compete for the Class D North championship in June, making the season opener more important for the final heal-point standings

The Hot Shot competition returned last week after a hiatus due to the pandemic. This competition is open to boys and girls ages 9-15.

The Houlton high school baseball and softball teams hosted scrimmages against Katahdin and Hodgdon on Wednesday

There are courses in other parts of the state of Maine that have opened for play while Aroostook County and New Brunswick play catch-up with Mother Nature.
