NASA’s newest batch of astronauts includes a graduate of Caribou High School. 35-year-old Jessica Meir, who currently works at Harvard Medical School, has been chosen to join a team of 4 women and 4 men to begin training for NASA’s future space missions.

Being an astronaut has always been a dream for Meir, and while growing up in Aroostook County, she attended summer space camp at Purdue University.

Meir was valedictorian of Caribou High School in 1995. She went on to graduate from Brown University and has an advanced degree from the International Space University, and earned her doctorate from Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
