A Caribou man was arrested Sunday morning after police allege he was caught in the act of committing a home burglary.

The Caribou Police Department received a call shortly after 10 a.m. of a burglary in progress at a local residence. Officers Kegan McPherson and Daniel Ballanger entered the home and met the suspect still inside.

According to Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan, the intruder ran out of the house and a foot chase ensued. He was apprehended a short distance away and taken into custody.

The suspect, 21-year-old Jonathan Emmert-Keenan of Caribou, has a lengthy criminal history and was on probation at the time of his arrest, Gahagan said.

Emmert-Keenan was charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass and Refusal to Submit to Arrest or Detention. His court date is scheduled for October 4.
