Canada Post’s New Pricing Structure Takes Effect Today

It will cost you a little more to mail a letter in Canada, as of today. Canada Post has adjusted the price of a single stamp from 63-cents a stamp to one dollar, the biggest price hike in years. 

If you don’t have a cache of letter stamps at the previous 63-cent price, then you’re out of luck as Canada post office won't selling any more of them.

The typical Canadian household buys fewer than two stamps per month which means an estimated additional household cost of less than $5 per year.

Canada Post has also recently announced a five-year plan that will eventually eliminate to-your-door mail service in favor of communal mailboxes in each neighborhood.

The operations of the Canada Post Group of Companies are funded by the revenue generated by the sale of its products and services, not taxpayer dollars. Canada Post has a mandate from the Government of Canada to remain financially self-sufficient and to provide a standard of postal service that is affordable and meets the needs of the people of Canada.
