Buchholz Injured As Streak Stalls
Clay Buchholz departed Friday night's loss after 3.1 innings with what the Red Sox called, "right elbow tightness."
Following the starter's exit, the Yankees buried an error-prone Boston team with three runs in the fourth, en route to winning, 5-1.
Errors from Mike Napoli and Brock Holt extended the fourth, allowing the Yankees to add to an early lead.
Michael Pineda quieted the Sox' lineup, allowing only a solo homerun to Mookie Betts in his 6.2 innings of work. Pineda recorded six strikeouts and New York pitchers fanned 11 Boston batters in the contest.
Buchholz allowed six hits and one run --a monster-clearing homerun by Alex Rodriguez-- in his abbreviated outing, taking with him his seventh loss of the season.
The Sox will look to regain momentum Saturday night behind Eduardo Rodriguez with the first pitch at 7:15 p.m.
