Boston University freshman Jack Eichel earned college hockey's highest award Friday afternoon when he was named the 2015 Hobey Baker winner.Eichel becomes just the second freshman to win the award, joining former University of Maine Black Bear Paul Kariya who took home the award in 1993. The award was presented at Matthews Arena in Boston where Eichel's Terriers are preparing for Saturday night's national championship game against Providence at the Boston Garden.

Eichel beat out North Dakota goalie Zane McIntyre and forward Jimmy Vesey from Harvard.

In this his only season with Boston University, Eichel leads the nation in points (70), assists (44), power play points (23) and plus-minus (+51).
