Brewer High School lineman Austin Lufkin was announced as a Frank J. Gaziano finalist for the defensive side of the ball for his work on and off the football field.

Lufkin, who was announced as a semi-finalist last month, will be joined by David Redmond of Westbrook High School and Raffaele Salamone of Deering High School as defensive line finalists in the state of Maine

The senior was named a first-team all-conference selection on both sides of the ball in 2016 and also was named an All-Academic selection.  Lufkin has a grade point average of 90.8 at Brewer High School and has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America.

Lufkin has also made news over the past weekend by setting a shot put record at an indoor track meet at UMaine.
