The crash happened just before 7 a.m. on South Perley Brook Road near Little Black Lake. Police Chief Tom Pelletier said 47-year-old Scott Boucher of Fort Kent failed to negotiate a curve after hitting a patch of black ice. His pickup truck went off the road, down an embankment and struck a tree.

Fort Kent Police, Fort Kent Fire Department and Maine State Police all responded.

Boucher was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police investigators determined that slippery roads led to the crash.
