The UMaine women's basketball team wrapped up play in the Gulf Coast Showcase with an impressive 52-41 win over the LSU Tigers.Maine used a balanced attack to take the lead early in the first quarter and never looked back finishing tournament play with a 2-1 record.

The Bears hit three straight 3-pointers in the second quarter to open up the lead which went as high as 16 points in the first half. Lauren Bodine hit 2 of the 3-point shots and Chantel Charles had the other.

Charles scored a career high 14 points to lead the Bears in scoring. Liz Wood was the only other double digit scorer with 12 points to go along with 9 rebounds. Mikaela Gustafsson came off the bench and contributed 9 points and 9 rebounds while Sigi Koizar also finished with 9 in the scoring column.

The win wraps up  stretch of 4 games in 5 days that resulted in 3 wins. Maine will host Colby at the Cross Center Tuesday before going back on the road for games at Northeastern and Dartmouth next weekend.
