The University of Maine basketball teams split their match-ups with the Albany Great Danes on Sunday afternoon.  The women’s side won by a score of 84-71 while the men’s side fell on the road by a 81-63 score.

Black Bears Men’s Basketball 63-81 Albany

UMaine fell behind early on in the contest and trailed the Great Danes at the half by a score of 33-22.  The Black Bears would make a go of it in the second half, but were unable to cut down the deficit at all and ultimately lost by 18 on Sunday.  Wes Myers led the team with 18 points and 6 rebounds and the Bears get back into action on Sunday versus the Binghamton Bearcats next Sunday.

Black Bears Women’s Basketball 84-71 Albany

The Black Bears fell behind early at the Cross Insurance Center and trailed by 11 at the half to the defending champion Albany side.  Maine would get red hot after the halftime break and won after posting 26-14 third and fourth quarters against the Great Danes.  Blanca Millan led the way with 26 points, while Laia Sole had 21 points and 6 rebounds,  UMaine gets back in action on the road next Saturday against Binghamton.
