Bates Named CAA Defensive Player Of Week

UMaine defensive end Trevor Bates (Westbrook HS) has been named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Week.

In Saturday's 23-10 win over Stony Brook Bates had 7 tackles, two of them for a loss. He had 1.5 sacks and he picked up a fumble and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown.

Through seven games, Bates is tied for second on the team with 37 tackles and team leading five sacks.

The Black Bears are 3-1 in CAA play (3-4 overall) and play at Villanova this week.
