University of Maine women's basketball coach Richard Barron returned to practice with the team and is scheduled to make the trip to Rhode Island this weekend.

Tyson McHatten, the associate athletic director for media relations, confirmed on Friday morning that Barron was back at practice before the trip, and is expected to make the travel to Rhode Island and Miami afterwards.

Barron was sidelined this past week at practice after dealing with an undisclosed illness dating back to the weekend match-up with Dartmouth. He was on the bench during the contest with the Big Green, but did not appear for interviews in either of the pre or post-games.  Should Barron's status change, associate head coach Amy Vachon would likely fill in as the head coach of the team.

Maine is currently 5-5 on the year and will face Bryant University on Saturday and then East Tennessee State University in Miami, Florida on Monday.
