UMaine and women's basketball coach Richard Barron have reached an agreement on a four year contract extension that runs through the 2020 season.

Barron will earn $150,000 per year with $5,000 increases each year.

Since taking over the UMaine program in 2011, the Black Bears have gone from a four win team to back-to-back America East regular season titles and 20-win seasons. Barron was named America East Conference Coach of the Year in 2015.

This past season, the Black Bears lost to UAlbany in the AE championship game.

In a press release to announce the extension, UM athletic director Karlton Creech pointed out increased attendance and academic excellence under Barron's leadership, as well as the success on the court.

NOTE:  Coach Richard Barron will be a guest on 'The Drive Show' from 4-6pm today on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket.
