Victim of Ashland Fire Identified [UPDATE]
The State Fire Marshal’s Office says 60-year-old Michael Kelley of Ashland is the suspected victim of a fire Wednesday morning that destroyed a camper trailer in Ashland.
Kelley would park his 17x8 foot camper of different friend's properties in town and it had been parked on Main Street since early fall, according to Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland.
The camper burned to the ground, except for a small section. Investigators are looking at both the propane heater and numerous candles inside the camper as possible causes.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office will likely use DNA to establish a positive ID, as the body was burned beyond recognition, McCausland said.
This was the 16th fire death of the year in Maine.
