The $2,500 grant will help in rebuilding efforts after a fire on March 12 destroyed the sanctuary’s new building and claimed the lives of 16 cats.

Ark representatives, community supporters and animal welfare advocates from around the state have offered assistance and are focused on rebuilding.  In addition, thousands of dollars has been raised locally to support the resurrection of the sanctuary on the Old Woodstock Road.

According to Ark spokesperson Lorraine Monfils, cash donations and supplies including cat food and pet litter are most needed at this time. If you are interested in contributing to this effort, please send your donation to Ark Animal Sanctuary in care of Lorraine Monfils at 70 Main Street, Houlton, Maine, 04730.
