Add the name Scott Darling to the list of former UMaine goalies in the NHL. The Chicago Blackhawks called up Darling from their AHL team in Rockford this week when starting goalie Corey Crawford got injured.

Chicago's backup goalie Antti Raanta got the start two nights ago against Philadelphia. Darling was the backup. He is expected to be the backup again tonight when the Blackhawks play Nashville.

Darling played in 54 games over two season at UMaine in the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.

He signed a free agent deal with Chicago over the summer and was 2-0 with a 1.44 GAA with Rockford before the NHL call up.

Darling joins Detroit's Jimmy Howard and Tampa Bay's Ben Bishop as former UMaine goalies currently in the NHL.

Other former Black Bear goalies who have spent time in the pros include Mike Dunham, Matt DelGuidice, Scott King, Alfie Michaud, Mike Morrison and Matt Yeats.
