AMC has steadily released bits and pieces of 2015 ‘Breaking Bad‘ prequel ‘Better Call Saul,’ but the first clip sets a major milestone for the franchise in place. See how Saul met infamous fixer Mike Ehrmantraut in the first official clip from ‘Better Call Saul!’

Our first look at Saul, er…Jimmy McGill’s pre-Walter White adventures sees the young(er) attorney struggling to get into a parking lot lorded over by none other than former police officer Mike (Jonathan Banks), presumably the pair’s first meeting. Mike refuses to allow him entry, kicking off a conflict that shows Mike to be far more deadly than his station would suggest, though anyone familiar with ‘Breaking Bad’ would well know that.

Premiering over two nights on February 8 and 9,  2015, and already renewed for a second season, here’s how AMC describes ‘Better Call Saul’:

The series is set six years before Saul Goodman meets Walter White. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and, often, against Jimmy, is “fixer” Mike Ehrmantraut, a beloved character introduced in ‘Breaking Bad.’ The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts “criminal” in “Criminal lawyer.” The series’ tone is dramatic, woven with dark humor.

In addition to Jonathan Banks returning as Mike Ehrmantraut, ‘Better Call Saul’ features Michael McKean as Saul/Jimmy McGill’s brother Chuck, ‘The Last Exorcism’ star Patrick Fabian as “Kennedy-type” white-shoe law firm lawyer Howard Hamlin, Rhea Seehorn as fellow lawyer Kim Wexler, and ‘Orphan Black”s Michael Mando as Spanish-speaking career criminal Nacho Varga. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have also expressed their interest in appearing on the series, while Robert Forster claims his “Disappearer” character will return, and Dean Norris seems continually uncertain on the idea of a cameo appearance.

We’ll hopefully see a proper trailer for ‘Better Call Saul’ before the year is out, but what do you think? Are you any more excited to begin Saul’s journey anew on February 8? Watch the newest preview above, and give us your thoughts in the comments!
