Just last month, Jerry Cantrell revealed that Alice in Chains were ready to spend some time in the studio this summer working on their next studio album. Now, in an appearance on the Let There Be Talk podcast (heard below and transcribed by Blabbermouth), bassist Mike Inez has filled in a few more details on the band's next set, including the man who will be behind the board recording the album.

"We're going back home [to Seattle] to do a record," explained Inez. "The last two [albums] were [recorded] in L.A., and they were cool. I just feel in 2017, it's time for Alice in Chains to go back to Seattle -- drink that water, breathe that air. My Heart family's up there. There's just such a history -- every street corner for us is a memory; crazy s--t happened or some beautiful stuff. Seattle's a really special place, especially this time of year. It's the best."

He also revealed that Nick Raskulinecz, who oversaw the production of Black Gives Way to Blue and The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, will return in the producer role for the disc. However, it remains to be seen who will be releasing the album as the band completed their contract with Universal Music Group.

"We're not sure where it's gonna land," the bassist said. "We wanna partner with somebody, and we'll see where it goes. I mean, we financed [Black Gives Way to Blue] on our own too, so we're not too worried about that stuff. We've just gotta get it out to ... Alice is a global band, so it has to be a significant label that has the infrastructure where you can get this stuff in stores in, like, f--king Singapore when we play or South America ... wherever."

While an official release date has not been revealed, it is expected that the band's next album will arrive tentatively in early 2018. At present, the band has no tour dates on their schedule.
