While the UMaine softball team was sweeping a twinbill at Quinnipiac, the UM baseball was continuing to struggle.  The Bears lost twice to Binghamton.

UMaine Baseball: It was opening day at Mahaney Diamond in Orono and the Black Bears got beat 6-1 and 8-1 by the Binghamton Bearcats.

The doubleheader loss sends Maine to 5-17 (0-2 AE). The Bears have lost 9 of their last 10 games. Binghamton improves to 6-14 (2-0 AE).

In the first game, UMaine managed just five hits against Bearcats pitchers Jake Cryts and Dylan Stock.  Binghamton got to UM starter Jonah Normandeau for six runs in 4.1 innings.

In the second game, Binghamton broke open a 1-0 game with three runs in the fifth inning, two in the sixth and two more in the seventh. Maine managed just four hits the game. Justin Courtney took the loss.

Hamden, Connecticut: UMaine softball beat the Bobcats 9-2 and 3-1. The Black Bears win the weekend series two games to one. Maine is now 10-11.

In the first game, Maine pounded out 12  hits in the win. In game two, UM pitcher Molly Flowers struck out 13 and allowed just four hits to get the complete game win.
