Wild turkey hunting season is in full swing here in Maine, and could be making a comeback in the province of New Brunswick.

The National Wild Turkey Federation Chapters in New Brunswick are renewing their efforts to re-establish the province's turkey population for hunting.

The group submitted a proposal to the provincial government about its plans, but haven't heard any news since the spring. The government is looking at any potential issues with disease or crop damage that could result from establishing a turkey population in the province.

Wild turkeys are considered an exotic species by the department.
