20-Year-Old Caribou Woman Hits Moose on Route 161

A 20-year-old Caribou woman was uninjured after hitting a moose on Route 161 at Cross Lake early Monday evening.

Maine State Police said Raylee Shaw was unable to avoid the moose in the roadway as another car was passing her. The other vehicle did not stop.

The accident happened around 5:45 pm Monday.  Shaw was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, police say.
