RCMP say an 18-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle accident late Thursday afternoon in Baxters Corner, about 20 kilometres northeast of Saint John, N.B.

Police and emergency crews responded to the crash on Radio Range Road shortly before 5 p.m., according to Sgt. Dustine Rodier of the Southeast District RCMP.

The investigation showed that the car left the road and struck a tree. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man from Baxters Corner died at the scene as a result of his injuries, Rodier said.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation.

The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
