When Kevin Halton opened up his shipment of lobsters from Boothbay for Two Cousins Fish Market in Freeport,  he was startled to see what he thought was a pre-cooked lobster in the package. That is, until the lobster moved. What Kevin had was a very rare red lobster. So rare in fact, the chances of catching a red lobster is one in 10 million, according to “One in a Million?” published by the Lobster Institute at the University of Maine in Orono. That makes it more rare than catching a blue lobster (one in 2 million.)

The fascinating part of this story is that Kevin didn't catch the lobster, the company that his restaurant uses caught it and shipped it over to him. Did they not see the red lobster? Did they not know what a rare find they pulled up?

Kevin said he has no plans to sell or cook the 3 pound crustacean, according to Newsday.com,  he was going to hand it over to the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center in Riverhead, NY.
