Friday June 20

Midsommar Festival is underway in New Sweden and runs right through the weekend.  An exciting Scandinavian cultural event with Midsummer Pole, Swedish dancing, music and food, costumes and wildflowers.  Hosted by the New Sweden Historical Society.  Held on the museum grounds at the corner of Station and Capitol Hill Roads. There will be a Toast and Jam Acadian Kitchen Party from 6 to 8  Friday evening at the Fort Kent Senior Center. Join them for live Acadian music, toast and jam.  Admission is $5 and children under 12 attend free.  The evening includes performers such as Don Levesque and Roger Damboise of the Acadian Singers, Curt Harvey and Sam Oaks of The Fiddleheads, and more. Saturday June 21 - The First Day of Summer

The 79th Aroostook County Muster Firefighter's Muster will be held Saturday in Van Buren.  Parade line-up is at 8 a.m. on Fulton Street and the parade will start at 9:00.  A chicken BBQ  @11:00 a.m. at the American Legion (Tickets are $9 - available at the firehouse between 7 and 8 a.m.)  Firefighters Muster events start at 12:30 in front of the high school. The Rally in the Valley Mountain Bike Festival will be held at 10th Mountain Lodge in Fort Kent for kids of all ages. It starts at 8 a.m. Saturday.  Registration fee is  $5. Preregistration is encouraged and those who do will get FREE helmet, water bottle, and a cool  T-shirt!  A bag lunch will be provided.  Hosted by Northern Maine Medical Center. Caribou Friends for Scouts' 7th Annual Golf Tournament is Saturday at the Caribou Country Club. A 4- person scramble Registration is from 7-8 a.m.—$100 Per Team. Shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. Pre-register by calling the Caribou Country Club at 493-3933.

Saturday is the 2014 Tour de Houlton Farms Dairy from Caribou to Houlton.  The group will depart from the Caribou dairy bar at 8:30 a.m. and stop briefly at Presque Isle dairy bar. Estimated arrival time at Houlton is 12:30 p.m. Riders are invited to enjoy a pint of Houlton Farms Dairy chocolate milk and a frosty treat!   For more info., email brad@teamhfd.com

The Fort Kent Elementary PTO is hosting a Craft & Vendor Fair at the Fort Kent Elementary School on Saturday from 9 to 2.  They have handmade crafts such as jewelry, quilts, primitive crafts, children's toy sets, and much more. There will be vendors from companies such as, Lia Sophia, Tastefully Simple, Signature HomeStyles, Origami Owl, Rada, and many more! Admission is only $1 per person. For more info, call 231-0335.

Saturday is Devo Day from 9 -3. at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle.  This Nordic-focused event is sponsored by the Maine Winter Sports Center. It's open to athletes ages 10-14. The first-ever Men of Tyre Charity Motorcycle Ride will take place on Saturday. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Northern Maine Development Commission in Caribou and kickstands go up at 10 a.m. Fee is $20 per bike and $10 per additional rider. Proceeds will go towards the Masons Charity Fund.  The inaugural Charity Ride is in honor and memory of Tom Clukey, a Mason and Shriner. For more information, call Scott Walton at 659-5310.

The Aroostook Auction Barn at 102 Houlton Road in Easton is hosting a benefit auction for repairs needed at Riverside Wesleyan Campground in Blaine on Saturday at 10 a.m. Preview is from 8-10.  For more information, call 432-2836 . Donations are welcomed.

The Fort Kent Lions Club will be holding their 2nd Annual Lions River Run on Saturday. The race will begin in Plaisted at the end of Eagle Lake and will finish in down town Fort Kent at the Lions Pavilion. The approximate race length will be 13.5 miles. The Anah Shrine is holding its annual Ceremonial in Presque Isle this weekend.  It will be highlighted by a Shriners' Parade down Main Street starting at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The parade line-up is at 1:15 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus. Bring the whole family to this colorful parade!

Sunday June 22

Motorcyclists can join the Caring for Local Veteran’s Motorcycle Ride on Sunday.  Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the American Legion in Caribou. Kick stands go up at 10 a.m. All funds raised will go to helping local retired and disabled veterans.

Check out the S.W. Collins Co. 5k Run/Walk in Caribou on Sunday, June 22nd. It's race number 3 in the Aroostook Musterds Challenge Series. The Kids' Fun Run starts at 9:00 a.m. 5k Walk at 9:45 a.m. 5k Run at 10:00.  For more details,  call Lea at  496-6723 or email leas@swcollins.com
